CBeebies Bedtime Hour gets new Autumn look with Waybuloo 1

How children’s bedtime has changed over the years. With the advent of digital TV, including Freeview, parents can now turn to the TV for help in setting their little ones down for the night.

The BBC CBeebies “Bedtime Hour”, which runs from 6-7pm on the CBeebies channel, is popular with parents and children, though it can’t please everyone all of the time.

Every so often the hour gets a bit of a refresh, with some shows moving or disappearing to make way for new ones or old favourites.

From Monday 3rd October, Charlie & Lola and 64 Zoo Street will make way for Waybuloo. In The Night Garden and The Bedtime Story will remain in place.

Judging by comments on the CBeebies Facebook page, some parents really welcome the change while others aren’t so happy.

CBeebies’ controller, Kay Benbow, said that they were always looking at ways to keep the schedule fresh and interesting without causing too much disruption to routines.

Fortunately, thanks to technology, many parents will have the option to watch ‘missing’ favourite shows via the iPlayer.

TV should never be a necessity in a child’s routine but there’s no doubt the BBC’s award-winning channel has won a place in many families’ hearts.

What do you think of the changes?
