Active kids develop life skills

Encouraging your children and teens to do things that interest them, get them active, and give them a sense of achievement and reward, develops their life skills, motivation and self-esteem.
That’s the basic message of an article written by Coila Graham.
“Think of a time when you did something really well.” she writes. “Didn’t it make you feel good, important, needed, etc? Children work the same way. When children have an activity that they like and can grow with, it enriches their lives and helps them maintain a good self-esteem. It is an old theory that children who play musical instruments, for example, statistically do better in math, science, and language classes.”
The article includes an extensive list of things that you could encourage children with different abilities and talents to take part in.
Some of these activities are also a great way to get the whole family involved, talking and playing together.
