Women rely on other women

Go Upstate has published an interesting article exploring women’s important relationships with one another.
Some highlights include:
- A recent Harris Interactive survey found that 64 percent of women choose to talk to girlfriends rather than their spouses or mothers about personal issues such as relationships and sex.
- Depth of emotion and lack of fear are the essence of what makes women’s friendships different than men’s, according to people who have studied the phenomenon.
- Women are more comfortable [than men] with the idea of loving someone of the same gender.
- Women’s friendships can be more volatile than men’s, because they are more intense in a way.
- Female friendships face more obstacles because they often involve more emotion, more expectations and more potential for conflict
