Teens may avoid social problems by having family meals

A new study from The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University (CASA) suggests that teenagers who eat with their families are less likely to be involved with drugs, alcohol and tobacco misuse.

The article at Fox News suggests ten benefits of preserving family meals. These include

  • Less likely to smoke cigarettes
  • Less likely to drink alcohol
  • Less likely to try marijuana
  • Less likely to have friends who use illicit drugs

It also reports improved parental relationships and better performance at school.
